WELCOME!
FIS CROSS-COUNTRY WORLD CUP FINAL presented by Viessmann, Svenska Skidspelen March 22-24 2013.
We are getting closer to Falun’s big Ski Festivities! Right now we’re following the World Ski Elite on TV, but soon we’ll have a chance to see them live at the National Arena – Lugnet. Svenska Skidspelen and Falun will be ready to greet you with the 50 best men and women skiers of the world during 3 days of competition. FIS Cross-Country World Cup Final starts with the first race in Stockholm on March 20th (Step 1), followed by races in Falun March 22-24th (Step 2-4).
During the Opening ceremony at Stora Torget March 21st, we are hoping we get to celebrate some recent Swedish podium finishes from the World Championships. Arenaproduktion will set the ambience with sound, lighting, images and entertaining.
The Ski festivities start at 11AM every day at the National Arena – Lugnet. Roberto Vacchi is in charge of guiding the audience together with Robin Bryntesson and Peter Edman. The Kids’ skiing playground will be set up and our mascot Bubo will be walking around the arena. You can find food, drinks and heat in the Restaurant tent at the stadium. Do yourself a favour – buy your ticket in advance!
Tradition – Competition – Festivities are the key words Svenska Skidspelen wants to live by. Our goal is to constantly improve and be one of the world’s best organizers of the Nordic Events; Cross-country, Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined.
Eleven Ski clubs providing 500 volunteers, contribute with their experience and form the pillars of our organization. Our event brings a sizable financial contribution to the kids and youth activities in these clubs. From 2013-2015, Svenska Skidspelen is organized in collaboration with the organization for the World Championships in Falun 2015, and we continuously expand the organization and the arena for Nordic World Championship of Dalarna.
We would also like to extend our gratitude to the municipality of Falun, the Swedish Ski Federation and the corporate world who give us support and possibility to organize these competitions.
Together, we are creating an event that can have our competitions reach new levels at the National Arena of Lugnet in Falun – the future host of the World Championships of Nordic Skiing in 2015.
I’m looking forward to seeing you at Svenska skidspelen march 22-24 2013
Anki Kjellberg, Head of Sports and Arena
