Den 20-24 mars kommer världseliten på längdskidor åter till Falun. Då genomförs nämligen FIS världscupfinal, med Viessman som huvudsponsor, i Stockholm och Falun för femte året i rad. FIS-representanterna Pierre Mignerey, Sandra Spitz och Michal Lamplot, samt Daniel Kuss från
FIS Marketing AG, tillbringade en dag på Lugnet den 22 augusti. Tillsammans med Johan Bernhagen och Anders Yttergård från SVT inspekterade de tävlingsbanorna och stämde av status på arrangörens förberedelser. De tävlande som kommer till världscupsfinalen i vinter kommer att upptäcka att längdbanorna delvis består av nya spår jämfört med tidigare år. Detta är en av flera förändringar som genomförs inför VM 2015. På grund av ombyggnationen av hoppbackarna kan emellertid inte hela det nya bansystemet användas i vinter. Under världscupfinalen 2014 kommer däremot alla VM-banorna att kunna testas. Förutom det delvis nya bansystemet står arrangören av 2013 års världscupfinal även inför andra utmaningar. – Målområdet kommer att byta sida på skidstadion för att bli bättre anpassas till VM. Detta medför förändringar vad gäller plats för prisceremonier, speakrar, storbildsskärmar, publikgångar, samt områden för vallalastbilar och skidåkare. Men vi känner oss bekväma i att vi kommer att hitta bra lösningar, säger Anki Kjellberg, sportchef för Svenska Skidspelen och VM 2015. Trots utmaningarna fick FIS inspektionsgrupp ett positivt intryck av vad de såg och de var nöjda över den välfungerande organisationskommittén. Samtidigt betonade de vikten av att ständigt utveckla evenemanget för att förbereda det inför det kommande världsmästerskapet år 2015. FIS representatives Pierre Mignerey, Sandra Spitz and Michal Lamplot as well as Daniel Kuss from FIS Marketing AG, spent a day at Lugnet in Falun on the 22nd of August. Together with Johan Bernhagen and Anders Yttergård from the host broadcaster SVT, they inspected the courses and the status of the preparations of the Organising Committee. The skiers who will compete at the World Cup Final this winter will discover that the competition courses have been partly reconstructed compared to previous years. This is one of many changes that will be carried out as part of the preparations for the 2015 FIS World Ski Championships. Due to on-going construction work on the jumping hills, however, all courses will not be used. The entire World Championships track system will be tested at the World Cup Final 2014. In addition to the new courses, there will also be other challenges for the 2013 Organising Committee to consider. – The finish area will change sides on the stadium to be better suited to the World Championships requirements. This involves changes to the positions of prize giving ceremonies, speaker positions, TV screens and pathways for the audience as well as areas for waxing trucks and skiers. But we feel confident about finding good solutions to all challenges, says Anki Kjellberg, Sports Director of Svenska Skidspelen and Falun2015. Despite the challenges, the overall impression of the FIS Inspection Group after the meeting was positive and they expressed satisfaction about the well co-ordinated organisation.
